Break the invisible chain of Gender Based Violence
Over the past few months, we had the pleasure of collaborating with our great friends “Avec Plaisir” on the EQUAL Project campaign, which aims to eliminate gender-based violence in Uzbekistan.
Tackling such a sensitive and timeless issue within a limited runtime was a challenge. Through our short film, we sought to encourage individuals who have experienced or witnessed gender-based violence to express their feelings. To achieve this, we developed an aesthetic that incorporates elements of Uzbekistan’s traditions and visual culture, ensuring it resonates with the intended audience. Simultaneously, we designed an abstract urban environment to avoid stigmatizing specific communities, as gender-based violence is a global issue.
The film—marked by the emphatic absence of dialogue—focuses on acts of gender-based violence and the interconnectedness of these experiences, underscoring the importance of empathy and equal human relationships. The score, composed by our talented partners at MD Recording Studios, captures the loneliness and fear of those who have suffered abuse, while inspiring all of us to SPEAK up.
