When we were seven years old, all we got for Christmas
was that dreadful sweater our grandmothers knit.
A bowl full of candy that tasted like shit.
An oversized yellow t-shirt (even though they knew we wear strictly black).
A book about trout fishing.
A shaving device -when we were nine years old.
A toy dinosaur -when we weren’t nine anymore.
Maybe you’re not supposed to save yourself from something awful and useless.
Maybe it’s a lesson.
Live, push yourself, change yourself, laugh at the madness of it all!
